DIVINE DS
CONCEPT
French
premium brand DS took its Divine concept for a drive in London’s Hyde Park
after the concept’s UK public debut earlier at Goodwood’s Festival of Speed.
Showcasing
the design language of future DS models, the Divine concept provides a glimpse
of the company’s plans as DS Automobiles is going to launch six new models by
2020. The diamond pattern is repeated throughout the concept, from the front
grille to the roof design and from the cabin to the rear lights, with the
company saying that it represents their “spirit of avant-garde” philosophy that
distinguishes its models from the competition.
The
Divine DS concept debuted at the 2014 Paris Motor Show and is not previewing a
specific production model, showcasing instead the independent design path DS is
going to follow. The concept was accompanied by its creator, Damien Fressard
who provided an insight into the inspiration behind the shape in the short
video linked below.
The
four-door 4.2 m long concept is being powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged
petrol engine which produces 267 hp and returns 145g/km of CO2 emissions. The
high-tech cabin has a 2+2 layout with leather upholstery which features a
unique version of the DS "watch-strap" seat design.
