LADA
VESTA
The Lada
Vesta will be the first production-spec model to be based on the company’s new
design philosophy, with the signature ‘X’ motif on the front bumper and side
body panels. It measures 4,410 mm long, 1,764 mm wide and 1,497 mm in height,
with a wheelbase of 2,635 mm, and is, reportedly, based on the ‘Lada B’
platform developed by AvtoVAZ and Renault-Nissan. The car is hoisted on 185/65
R15 tires.
Powering the
Lada Vesta will be a naturally aspirated 1.6-liter petrol engine available in 8
valve and 16 valve configurations, which will produce 87 hp and 106 hp,
respectively. A more-powerful 1.6-liter 16-valve unit sourced from
Renault-Nissan delivering 114 bhp is also considered. The only transmission
options available are a 5-speed manual gearbox and an AMT unit (16 valve engine
only).
The image
reveals an interior design similar to the Lada Vesta concept. It features a
modern interior characterized by a 3-spoke steering wheel, a music player with
Bluetooth connectivity housed in the center console, a manual transmission, and
a conventional mechanical hand brake. Higher variants will get dual front
airbags, heated front seats, electrically adjustable wing mirrors, automatic
headlights, automatic wipers and ABS as optional equipment.
The new car
is reported to sport durable, energy-intensive suspension setup and engine
protection, with the engines specially calibrated to take on Russian
conditions. A hatchback and estate version of the Vesta sedan has been
officially teased and are planned for production next year.
