Rolls Royce Phantom Maharaja Peacock Drophead Coupé

This
Rolls Royce redefines the term 'peacocking'.
It
seems that nowadays Rolls Royce is taking advantage of every possible thing to
come up with a new, one-of-a-kind signature model. We get it, every customer
can commission a bespoke Roller with a unique motif. From tigers, to peacocks,
to old British TV characters.
Still,
why did I bother featuring this Drophead example if Rolls Royce comes up with
something new every couple of weeks, or so? Well, look at it. It’s gorgeous. In
a world filled with crazy tuning and styling exercises, Rolls Royce remains classy
and simple; just like a breath of fresh air. And by classy I mean opulent.
This
particular example is called Phantom Maharaja Peacock Drophead Coupé and it
celebrates the beauty of India’s national bird. The love story between
maharajas and Rollers began a long time ago, when Phantoms were known as the
40/50 Phantom 1 and when peacocking was… intense, to say the least.
Back
then, India’s royalty used to bedizen the automobiles with dozens of
extravagant “bespoke” accessories, trying to outdo one another with a sheer
embellishment of their cars.
That
said, this particular Carrera White Dophead keeps things simple and elegant
(compared to the days of old), although it features a very contrasting
PineGreen coachline featuring a peacock emblem.
The
boxwood yacht lines are complemented by a turquoise “jewel-bright” tone laid on
the interior accents. Oh, and the seashell leather contrasts elegantly against
the woodgrain and the peacock motif - emphasized with a plethora of emblems and
small design cues.
So,
do these changes make this particular Phantom a truly unique and bespoke Rolls
Royce? Well, although the color combination is risky, the British car
manufacturer seemed to pull it off.
