VW
Multivan PanAmericana Concept
If
you own a motorcycle and haul it around, you're going to dig VW's new Multivan
PanAmericana study that came to the Frankfurt Auto Show.
Boxy
vans like VW's Transporter series won't wake up your taste buds, but they make
up for it with their versatility and adaptability allowing for all sorts of
configurations to meet a diverse range of needs.
In
the Multivan Panamericana's case, it can easily and effortlessly transport your
motorcycle when needed. What sets it apart is an electrically assisted loading
and unloading ramp positioned next to the rear passenger seat, complete with
special hooks to secure your precious two-wheeler, which in the display model
was a sexy Ducati.
To
make you feel better while transporting your superbike, VW gave the Multivan
some unique styling cues and upgrades, including red, black, and sating gray
highlights, bigger alloy wheels, and metal underbody guards on both ends on the
outside, plus aluminum diamond plate instead of the carpeted floor and carbon
fiber-look interior trimmings on the inside.
The
PanAmericana is based on the Multivan 4Motion powered by a 204 PS (201 hp) and
450 Nm (332 lb-ft) 2.0-liter turbo diesel paired to a 7-speed dual clutch
transmission and permanent all-wheel drive with a mechanical rear differential
lock.
