VW
Taigun Concept
Volkswagen
presented a further developed version of the Taigun SUV concept at Auto Expo
2014 in New Delhi. Its defining characteristics: Compact dimensions, spacious
interior, an efficient high-tech engine and exterior-mounted spare wheel.
Compared
to the first concept - presented in São Paulo, Brazil - the new Sport Utility
Vehicle (SUV) has a new rear design with an exterior-mounted spare wheel. Trim
parts added to the side sills, wheel arches and bumpers emphasise the vehicle's
rugged character; LED spotlights on the roof rails, on the other hand,
highlight its contemporary silhouette.
In
the spacious interior, meanwhile, the concept vehicle shows how Volkswagen is
presenting a sophisticated and multi-purpose compact SUV at affordable prices.
Its styling, surfaces and layout of instruments and controls - together with
its orange and beige seat upholstery and numerous matt anodised aluminium
accents - give the interior fresh and youthful contrasts.
The
four-seat VW Taigun is powered by a new 1.0-litre TSI engine with 81 kW /110 PS
; its combined fuel consumption is 4.7 l/100 km (110 g/km CO2). The efficient
powerplant extends the line-up of three-cylinder petrol engines, adding direct
fuel injection plus turbo technology. Volkswagen is writing a new chapter in
its downsizing strategy here. Key benefits: Not only is the three-cylinder
engine very lightweight and fuel-efficient; its maximum torque of 175 Newton
metres is also available at a low 1500 rpm.
