2016 Subaru Levorg

Subaru has announced that the sporty 2016 Subaru Levorg wagon will be launched in New Zealand in mid-2016. New Zealand is not the first market to get the Levorg, which has already been launched in Europe. But the Managing Director of Subaru New Zealand, Wallis Dumper says that the country will also be “getting a special high-specification model,” without getting into any details.

The Levorg wagon is a performance-oriented model that is similar in its driving characteristics and dimensions to that of the early Legacy GT wagons. New Zealand will initially be getting the 2.0-litre model which has a 2.0-litre four cylinder turbo petrol engine generating 296 hp and 400 Nm of torque that kicks in between the 2,000 to 4,800 rpm range. Being a Subaru, power is transferred to all four wheels but through Subaru’s Lineartronic CVT gearbox.

International markets are also getting the smaller 1.6-litre turbocharged engine which at the moment is not confirmed for the Kiwi market but might be considered sometime in the future.

Fuji Heavy Industries (FHI), Subaru’s parent company, is struggling with demand across the product line-up and will initially focus only on the 2.0-litre model. The company is witnessing strong demand and is already ahead by 30% on sales compared to the same period last year.
