Lexus LS
The 2016 Lexus LS is
now on sale in Canada with a starting price of CA$ 92,550 to CA$ 147,200. The
flagship model is available in three trims: LS 460, long-wheelbase LS 460 L and
the hybrid-powered long-wheelbase LS 600h. The Lexus LS has been designed with
several factors in mind like rigidity, aerodynamics, cabin quietness, driving
dynamics and stability. The exterior of the car looks elegant and in tune with
its premium positioning and gets the distinct spindle grille, L-shape DRLs and
sharp headlamps.
The interior is focused
on refinement and luxury. Lexus says that it has lavished the cabin with
premium materials, exquisite craftsmanship, impeccable finish and meticulous
attention to detail. The cabin bears an LED-based advanced illumination system
and elegant touches like analogue clock with with LED illumination.
The 2016 Lexus LS has a
huge list of standard equipment including 19-speaker 450-watt Mark Levinson
Reference Surround Sound Audio System, integrated XM Satellite Radio, multi-function
steering wheel, Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free use of mobile devices,
premium leather seat surfaces, heated and air conditioned front seats, 16-way
power adjustable driver and 12-way power adjustable front passenger seats,
voice-activated SD card-based navigation system with a 12.3-inch liquid crystal
display and integrated back-up camera, Lexus Remote Touch interface, power
windows with variable speed control, wood-grain interior trim, heated steering
wheel, LED map lights, cruise control, the Lexus Smart Key System, Push Button
Start, power assist doors, easy close trunk and many more.
The LS 460 and
long-wheelbase LS 460 L are powered by a 4.6-liter V8 that produces 360 hp and
347 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Power is sent to all wheels and fuel efficiency is rated at a combined 22 mpg
(9.35 km/l). The LS 600h L features the advanced 438 hp Lexus Hybrid Drive that
combines a combustion engine with two high-torque electric motors. The combustion
engine is a 5.0-liter V8 unit that churns out 389 hp and 521 Nm of torque and
is coupled to a dual-mode electronically controlled continuously variable
transmission. The hybrid model has an all-wheel drive layout and its combined
fuel economy is rated at 25 mpg (10.62 km/l).
Noteworthy safety and
assistance features include 10 airbags, traction control, Automatic Braking
System with Brake Assist and EBD, Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic
Alert System, adaptive front lighting system, rain-sensing wipers and direct
