Citroen
C3 Aircross
The new Citroen C3
Airstream carries the brand’s new identity to the crossover segment, but only
for the South American market.
Constructed at the
Porto Real Plant in Brazil, the C3 Aircross has a “no-nonsense, high-tech
design”, or at least that’s what the French car manufacturer says. Truth be
told, the car looks intriguing, to say the least, and even though it won’t make
it in other major markets, the automobile adopted Citroen’s new design language
in order to stay fresh and relevant.
The C3
Aircross isn’t a new addition to the South American line-up, as the C3
Picasso-based mini crossover is offered by Citroen’s Brazilian division since
2010. But now the raised, beefier C3 variant received a visual overhaul, making
it more “in tune” with the brand's current design philosophy – and with the C4
Cactus and Picasso.
Come to think of it,
its funky overall design does seem inspired by the Aircross Concept, while the
large grille, LEDs and compressed lights are complying with Citroen’s design
standards. Nonetheless, it still keeps some of its quirky details, such as the
A-Pillars.
There’s no
news about the vehicle’s engine options, but it will most likely sport the same
1.6-lire, petrol-powered or ethanol-powered mills.
