Pagani
Zonda Revolucion
As it prepares to
wind-down production of wild Zonda supercar, Pagani has introduced a
limited-edition model called the Zonda Revolucion. It is an evolution of the
existing Pagani Zonda R, and is powered by a 6.0-liter Mercedes-AMG V-12
engine.
The Zonda Revolucion’s
engine has been tweaked to produce 800 hp and 538 lb-ft of torque, which is
channeled to the rear wheels by way of a six-speed sequential transmission. The
carbon fiber and titanium monocoque helps keep curb weight just below 2400
pounds.
Pagani also upgraded
the car’s brakes to the latest version of its CCMR carbon-ceramic system, which
is said to be 15 percent lighter than before yet even better at dissipating
heat during track use. Also new is a Formula 1-inspired Drag Reduction System
rear wing. It can automatically adjust the level of downforce produced depending
on the car’s speed; the driver can manually override the wing setting by
pushing a button on the steering wheel. The front and rear carbon-fiber
spoilers have also been modified for better aerodynamic performance.
As for visual
enhancements, the Pagani Zonda Revolucion has a central red stripe with white
and yellow borders, yellow wheel lips, and stripes along each side of the car
composed of white, yellow, and red accents.
The Zonda Revolucion’s
upgrades take away the car’s street-legal status in most markets. At a price of
2.2 million euros (approximately $2.36 million), production of the Pagani Zonda
Revolucion was limited to just five examples. Given that, the time wouldn’t be
in contention for the production car lap record. That distinction is still held
by the Porsche 918 Spyder at 6:57.
The latest news, The
Pagani Zonda Revolucion has set a Nürburgring lap record of 6 minutes and 30
seconds, according to multiple internet sources. If true, the new time breaks
the Pagani Zonda R’s previous (unofficial) record of 6:47.50 set by racing
driver Marc Basseng in 2010.
