Renault
Twingo EDC Transmission
Renault's
urban-friendly Twingo will now come with the optional Efficient Dual Clutch
Transmission (EDC), available on Dynamique TCe90 and Dynamique S TCe90 versions
in the UK.
The EDC is an automatic
dual dry clutch transmission that uses an electronic control unit in order to
make gearshifts both automatic and comfortable at the same time. It's available
for £ 900 more than the equivalent manual version, though for that price you'll
get some pretty quick shift times at 290ms. The transmission's 'creep' control
also aids the driver in slow moving traffic by pulling away gradually when the
brake pedal is released, while the Hill Start Assist function is standard.
Twingo EDC owners will
benefit from having Renault's ECO mode working along side the 0.9-liter 90 HP
turbocharged engine, cutting consumption by up to 10%. The Twingo is also
getting six-spoke 15" 'Ariane' alloys as standard on Dynamique trim
models, replacing the older 15" 'Exception' wheels.
On top of that, customers
will have the opportunity to configure their Dynamique and Dynamique S models
with extra-tinted rear windows, making the car look a tiny bit more sporty. In
terms of connectivity, Twingo owners will benefit either from the standard
smartphone-operated R&GO feature, or the optional R-Link multimedia system
which its 7" touchscreen.
EDC versions of the
Twingo are available to order now in the UK, with first deliveries starting in
January.
