2016 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid


Toyota has launched the 2016 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid in Canada. The company has announced that the facelifted RAV4 and the first-ever RAV4 Hybrid will reach the showrooms by January 2016. Along with the introduction of the hybrid variant to the 2016 RAV4 range, Toyota has also added a sporty SE grade to the 2016 RAV4 range.

The facelifted RAV4 features a sleeker look with available LED headlights and LED DRLs. The redesigned bumper has a raised profile that takes up most of the face with circular fog lamps embedded in the lower portion. The flanks receive lower body cladding, sharp wheel arches and a prominent shoulder line. The rear is given a revised bumper and LED tail lights.


The RAV4 Hybrid comes in two trims, XLE and Limited. Its Hybrid Synergy Drive hybrid system makes use of a 2.5-liter Atkinson cycle naturally aspirated four-cylinder gasoline engine and an electric motor with power relayed by a CVT gearbox. The system produces 194 hp and 279 Nm of torque. The hybrid variant is the most powerful offering in the RAV4 range and can do the 0-60 mph in 8.1 seconds. The combined fuel efficiency is rated at 33 mpg.

Standard features include dual zone automatic climate control, eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, powered rear hatch, keyless entry with the Smart Key System and push-button start.


Another important addition to the RAV4 range for 2016 is the SE trim which brings back memories of the erstwhile RAV4 Sport. On the outside, the it features 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels, black mesh grille and black exterior mirrors. The interior is equipped with Softex leather seats, heated leather steering wheel, 7-inch display audio with navigation, dual-zone automatic climate control, black headliner and a 4.2-inch multi-information display.


The non-hybrid 2016 RAV4 is powered by a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder gasoline engine generating 176 hp and 233 Nm of torque. Power is put down the road through a 6-speed automatic transmission driving all four wheels. The RAV4 SE’s combined fuel economy figure is rated at 26 mpg.
