Alfa
Romeo Giulietta TCR
Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR is currently in development and will be
ready for the 2016 season of the TCR International Series which is considered
in the motorsport world as a more affordable alternative to the WTCC series.
Romeo Ferraris was hoping to have the Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR ready for a
maiden test session in the first week of November and then fly it to Macau to
race in the final event of the TCR, but in the end decided to work more on the
car to make sure it will be ready for 2016.
A
series of tests will be conducted in the middle of next week in Italy with
Mario Ferraris and former Alfa Romeo WTCC factory driver Salvatore Tavano in
charge of putting the car through its paces to make any necessary fine-tuning.
Production of the first batch of ten cars is programmed to kick off in April
2016 and according to Romeo Ferraris it will cost somewhere in the region of
€ 98,000.
The Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR is going to be 4351 mm
long, 1950 mm wide, and with a 2659 mm wheelbase. Power will be provided by an
inline-four 1742 cc engine coupled to a Sadev six-speed gearbox sending power to
the front axle. It will benefit from a McPherson front and multi-link rear
suspension while the stopping power will be provided by six-piston front
calipers with 378 mm discs and four-piston rear calipers teamed up with 290 mm
discs.
As
for the road-going Giulietta, Alfa Romeo is working on a mild facelift which
will see the light of day sometime in 2016.
