Ginetta G57
Ginetta
may be a small British car manufacturer, known only to a handful of
aficionados, but the company apparently wants to leave a mark in the racing
world.
The
affair between Ginetta and motor racing isn’t new, as the firm produced
lightweight racing-models for enthusiasts, sponsored aspiring drivers with
fully funded seasons in the Ginetta Junior Championship, and according to
them manufactured the fastest LMP3 car in the world.
Now,
the firm will debut its latest creation, the all-new G57 prototype racer at
London’s Autosport International, Europe’s premier, pre-season motorsport Show,
this January.
The G57 sits on a carbon fiber monocoque
chassis with a carbon crash box and FIA-approved steel rollcage for maximum
driver safety. 580 hp of pure grunt, from a LS3 6.3-Litre V8, is sent to the
back wheels through a six-speed sequential transaxle gearbox from Xtrac. Add an
unrestricted aerodynamic package into the mix, and you’ve got yourself a very
capable racing prototype, eligible, configurable and felxible for highly
competitive sports car racing around the world, suiting a wide range of driver
grades.
The
public launch also marks the start of Ginetta’s intention to increase exports
of its model range.
