Haval H8

The car from Great Wall Motors’ SUV brand was originally launched in November 2013 but since then has been going on and off the market for various reasons. Now, it appears that the automaker has sorted out all issues.

Haval’s second largest SUV measures 4,806 mm, 1,975 mm and 1,794 mm in length, width and height respectively. The wheelbase measures 2,915 mm.

The interior takes on a dual theme and is embellished with silver accents for the AC vents, centre console, instrument cluster, door pads and the four-spoke multi-function steering wheel. Faux wood inserts has also been used in large amounts to accentuate the premium factor in the cabin. The car comes with 6 airbags and ESP Bosch 9th Generation Electronic Assist System. The instrument panel has a small TFT screen sandwiched between dual pods from both sides. The large infotainment system is placed on the lower portion of the dash just below the AC vents.

Since the launch, Great Wall has worked upon improving the vibration levels inside the cabin, increasing rigidity of some body parts and also the front and rear suspension in an effort to reduce body roll. The SUV has a front Double-wishbone suspension and rear Multi-link Suspension.

Under the hood rests a 2.0-litre turbocharged direct injected inline four petrol engine belting out figures of 214.5 hp and 324 Nm. This engine is paired to a ZF 6-speed tiptronic gearbox. The Haval H8 is available in both 2WD and 4WD drivetrains.
