2016 VW Bora
FAW-Volkswagen has released the first
teaser of the next-gen China-exclusive 2016 VW Bora. The front-end of the model
has already been revealed in spy shots, but the teaser image gives a closer
look at the front-end with more clarity.
Changes include new upper and lower
grille and redesigned headlamps with U-shaped LED daytime running lights,
bumper and fog lamps. More creases appear on the hood to give it a more
athletic look.
The 2016 VW Bora will be based on the
Volkswagen Group’s PQ35 platform. It is reportedly 4,562 mm long, 1,793 mm wide
and 1,468 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,614 mm, making it 39 mm longer, 15 mm
wider, 1 mm taller, and 4 mm longer in wheelbase. It will be available with a
110 PS 1.6-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine and a
131 PS 1.4-litre TSI turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine.
Transmission choices will include 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual and 7-speed
DSG.
The 2016 VW Bora will adopt the
new model nomenclature, similar to Audi’s. One of the grades will be ‘230 TSI’,
powered by the 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine.
