2016
Indian Chief Classic, Chief Vintage and Chieftain
Indian
Motorcycles have just revealed its 2016 model year bikes, including the highly
popular Chief range. For 2016, Indian will offer new colour options for its
basic cruisers: the Chief will be available in Pearl White while the Chief
Vintage gets two new colours, Star Silver and Thunder Black. Chieftain, the
bagger version of the will be available in Silver Smoke, Star Silver and
Thunder Black. Click through for more details.
Indian
have just announced six new or upgraded models for the next model year. The
manufacturer upgraded some of its models properly but the highly popular Chief
range only got some minor updates.
For
2016, nothing changes on the mechanical side but there are some other important
changes. The heavyweight cruisers and baggers are still powered by the proven
Thunder Stroke 111 engine (an air-cooled version is on the Chief Dark Horse,
Classic and Vintage), but each model has its own character and style.
Riders
can opt for the Chief Classic cruiser with its classic looks, much cleaner now
following some re-work carried out for 2016: solo vinyl seat, black switches,
single headlight and cast aluminium wheels. It now also only comes in one
colour; Pearl White. Selling the bike in only one colour may sound strange but
Indian is confident that the model will stay popular. The Classis retains in
the US for US$ 17,999.
Next
there’s the basic bagger version of the Chief range, the Chief Vintage with its
beautiful fringed leather saddlebags and seats, and quick-release windshield
(all as standard) making this the option for those who plan to ride on extended
road trips. Four colours are available with one of these being new for 2016.
The Chief Vintage carries a price tag of US$ 20,999 with the standard colour,
while the two-tone version costs US$ 21,999.
The
Chieftain (bagger) has a large fairing with a power-adjustable windscreen (to
offer superb cruising comfort), genuine leather seats and hard saddlebags with
remote central-locking. It’s available in four colours in 2016 with two of
these new.
The
Chief Dark Horse with its Thunder Black Smoke livery. The Dark Horse retails
for US$ 16,999.
