2017 Ford F-150 Raptor SuperCrew Model
Ford's beastly F-150 SVT Raptor pickup
has received an all-new variant, dubbed the SuperCrew at the ongoing Detroit
auto show.
The headline of the F-150 SVT Raptor is
the inclusion of four fullsize passenger doors, adding more versatility to the
go-anywhere and do-anything off-roader.
To create the car, the wheelbase of the
standard Raptor has been stretched by a full 12 inches, meaning it now stands
at 145 inches. As with the two-door 2017 Raptor, the SuperCrew is significantly
lighter than the previous-generation car by about 500 pounds thanks to the use
of high-strength steel and aluminium in its construction.
Beyond the new doors and additional
interior space, the SuperCrew is virtually identical to the normal model with
all the same technologies. That means it comes standard with a 3.5-liter
EcoBoost V6 engine delivering 411 hp and 434 lb-ft of torque and mated to a
ten-speed automatic transmission. Thanks to an improved all-wheel drive system
with a torque-on-demand transfer case, the car promises to be a brute when the
going gets tough.
Discussing the car, Ford Performance
global director Dave Pericak said “F-150 Raptor means superior off-road
capability, from rock crawling to sand running. With the addition of SuperCrew,
F-150 Raptor customers can leave the pavement behind without sacrificing
comfort and space."
