2017 Jaguar XF
The latest Jaguar XF may have only just
been released and already, the luxurious executive sedan has been updated for
the 2017 model year.
The most important update for the 2017
XF is the availability of an all-wheel drive system. That system is the same as
the one from the F-Type AWD and primarily powers the rear-wheels but when
required, can funnel differing levels of torque to the front axle. This torque
on-demand setup allows for impressive levels of grip and adds to the versatility
of the car.
The XF's all-wheel drive system
can only be mated to the 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine pumping out 180
hp. When combined with the marque's eight-speed automatic transmission, the XF
AWD accelerates to 60 mph in a brisk 7.9 seconds, 0.2 seconds slower than the
rear-wheel drive model due to the 105 kg of additional weight. Top speed sits
at 136 mph.
Also for 2017, the XF is now available
with the Jaguar Configurable Dynamics system allowing driver's to play around
with the steering, throttle, transmission and suspension systems to create
their perfect ride. While that system is already available in the 2016 XF, it's
been limited to the V6-powered models in the past but is now available across
the range.
Models outfitted with the all-wheel
drive system can also be optioned with Adaptive Surface Response in place of
the normal Rain, Ice and Snow modes.
The new XF range consists of the XF
Pure, XF Prestige, XF Portfolio, XF R-Sport and XF S. Beyond the aforementioned
180 hp Ingenium engine, other available engines include a 163 hp 2.0-liter
diesel, a 240 hp 2.0-liter petrol, 300 hp 3.0-liter diesel V6, 340 hp 3.0-liter
petrol V6 and finally, a supercharged 3.0-liter petrol V6 with 380 hp on tap.
