Acura RLX SH-AWD
The Acura RLX SH-AWD (Sport Hybrid) was
showcased at the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show. The automaker calls it the most
technologically-advanced sedan it has ever made.
This hybrid sedan is the first to get
Acura’s three-motor Sport Hybrid system with electric SH-AWD. The design is
pretty conventional with the ‘jewel-eye’ LED headlamps being a striking
feature. Acura also says that it has more wheelbase and a wider greenhouse than
the competition, thus making the five-seater a bit more comfortable. Emphasis
has also been paid on fuel efficiency and to that effect, the sedan has a
lightweight construction and an aerodynamic body.
Standard features on the Acura RLX Sport
Hybrid are Smart Entry system, heated 12-way adjustable front seats, tri-zone
climate control, 7-inch On-Demand Multi-Use Display, multi-view rearview
camera, Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Blind
Spot Information (BSI) system.
Power for the RLX SH-AWD comes from a
3.5-liter SOHC direct-injected V6 engine that is assisted by three high-output
electric motors. Combined output stands at 377 hp and 511 Nm of
peak torque. Power is sent to all wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch
transmission. The carmaker claims that the engine gives V8-like performance
with the efficiency of a four-cylinder engine; combined fuel efficiency is
pegged at 12.75 km/l.
