BMW 440i And 325d
Alongside the launch of the BMW M3 and
M4 Competition Package models, the German automaker has announced a number of
improvements for its model lineup from spring 2016.
For the high-selling 3-Series, the 325d
Sedan and 325d Touring have been added to the range, both with a 224 hp
twin-turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cyinder diesel. According to BMW, the Sedan
sprints to 100 km/h in just 6.1 seconds and the Touring in 6.3 seconds.
Excluding the M4, the
"regular" 4-Series is now topped-out by the 440i. It has the same
3.0-liter inline-six engine as the 340i offering up 326 hp and 332 lb-ft of
torque. Power is funneled to the rear wheels via either a six-speed manual
transmission or an eight-speed auto. Performance is impressive, as the 440i can
reach 100 km/h in 5 seconds.
Elsewhere, the recently-revealed M4 GTS
is now available with advanced M Carbon Compound wheels. The automaker claims
these are the first production wheels combining carbon fiber and aluminum in
their construction and weigh 7 kg less than the forged ones.
The range-topping BMW 7-Series is also
welcoming a new model for spring 2016 with the roll-out of the 740Li from
March, utilizing a 326 hp 3.0-liter petrol engine that returns an impressive
37.7 mpg.
A number of new options finish the
changes, including the xDrive all-wheel drive derivatives of the 2-Series
GranTourer, a rear-view camera as standard for the X6 and the so-called 'Open
Air' package, now available on the 2-Series Convertible, 4-Series Convertible and
M4 Convertible.
