McLaren 675LT JVCKENWOOD CES Concept
At first, it may seem like a pinstriped
version of McLaren’s sold-out 675LT, but there’s more or less, depending on
how you look at it, to the JVCKENWOOD Concept that made its debut today at the
2016 International CES in Las Vegas.
Developed in cooperation with Japanese
manufacturer of electronics and entertainment products, and owner of the JVC
and Kenwood brands, JVCKENDWOOD, the study gives the 675LT a new minimalistic
interior that hides a number of technological features.
It’s an extreme version of McLaren’s
vision of purposeful interiors that place emphasis on weight savings, with the
concept incorporating the full suite of JVCKENDWOOD’s CAROPTRONICS sensing
device systems.
These include an all-in-one Head-Up
Display (HUD) combined with the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) to
communicate information to the driver, and three exterior cameras that replace
the side and rear view mirrors.
McLaren also borrowed the steering wheel
from their track-devoted P1 GTR, with the IPAS and DRS buttons replaced by
positioning controls for the Head-Up Display (HUD) with fighter plane inspired
graphics, while eliminating the stock 675LT’s instrument panel and center
console. The lower console was also redesigned with McLaren adding a monitor
for the Digital Rear View Mirror (DRVM) on top of the driver.
The only changes made to the exterior of
the car were the door mounted camera blades and third camera mounted above the
rear number plate, and the silver racing stripes.
