Nissan Titan Warrior Concept
Nissan unveiled the Titan Warrior
concept in Detroit, a more aggressive pickup truck with high performance
off-road capabilities.
Penned by Nissan Design America (NDA),
the Titan Warrior has a more powerful presence than the regular model, with the
ride height raised nearly three inches, from 78.7 inches to 81.5 inches, in
order to fit a set of 37-inch off-road tires mounted on 18x9.5-inch wheels
which feature a machined aluminum surface with a dark-matte finish.
The new long-travel suspension meant
that the width had to be extended three inches on each side in order to create
some clearance for the off-road tires. The wheelbase and overall length of the
Titan remained standard.
Painted in a custom matte gunmetal shade
called 'Thunder', with orange and black details, the exterior shape of the
Titan Warrior was styled to look like it wears a protective armor in order to
give it an edgier, more machine-like appearance. The grille and LED headlights
were enhanced, the front and rear fenders are now flared, LED off-road lights
were mounted on the roof while functional hood vents were installed for cooling
the engine.
Under the hood lives the 5.0-litre V8
Cummins turbo diesel unit mated to a six-speed heavy-duty Aisin automatic
gearbox. The new suspension setup involves in the front custom upper and lower
control arms with performance ball joints and internal bypass reservoir
coilover shocks with custom reservoir mounts and tie-rod extensions. In the
rear custom internal bypass reservoir shocks with reservoir mounts were
installed. A set of adjusted-length prototype axles with a custom sway bar,
relocated sway bar brackets, rear lift blocks and U-bolts and hydraulic
pressurized bump stops complete the overhaul of the Titan Warrior’s suspension.
The modified Titan XD is a design study
for now, with Nissan wanting to show the public the potential of their new
truck.
