Sinnis Retrostar 250
Scramblers
are officially back! After three decades, these retro-styled bikes are becoming
popular again. But there’s a small problem with these retro-looking machines:
they are not exactly cheap. For example, the new Ducati Scrambler costs about US$ 8,500. But if you’re on a tight budget, you can still own a Scrambler, you
just have to look East.
The
Chinese are getting closer and closer to the European, Japanese and South
Korean level in the automobile business. Yes, they still have a long way to go
and they can’t produce “Made in Bavaria” quality yet but they are far from
producing only crap. So we won’t downplay Sinnis, a motorcycle manufacturer
from China. Sinnis produces a wide range of scooters and motorcycles from 50 to
250 cc. The most interesting products of their line-up are the new Retrostar 250
and Scrambler 125 models.
The
Retrostar 250 is a slightly larger bike that is powered by a 249 cc
single-cylinder making 21 hp at 7,500 rpm. According to the press release, the
Retrostar 250 “lends itself to the glory days of motorcycling, and the Steve
McQueen-esk vintage Bonneville feel”, the bike does
feature era-correct design cues. Peashooter exhaust, wide bars, upside down
forks, nice 17” wheels, solid brakes, chromed fenders and headlight casing, the Retrostar is really retro. Claimed dry weight is 130 kg, tank
capacity 10 litres and the seat height 770 mm. You can take the Retrostar 250
for £ 2,200 plus on-the-road taxes home.
