Ferrari SF16-H
With the clear goal of taking the fight
to Mercedes in the 2016 Formula One season, Ferrari has now become the latest
team to unveil their new race car.
Compared to last year's car, the SF16-H
features a shortened nose, a tapered rear end and a fresh red & white
livery which is a throwback to the mid-70's cars driven by the likes of Niki
Lauda.
The Scuderia also raised the nose up and
fitted the car with a pushrod suspension instead of their previous pullrod
system.
As you can see from that detailed
description image, the car weighs only 702 kg with water, lubricant
and driver, can rev its 1.6-liter engine to 15,000r pm and has spent 1,500 hours
in the wind tunnel during its design stages.
It just so happens that all of those
figures, along with any other figures are virtually identical to last year's
car, which means that any and all aerodynamic improvements didn't affect the
car's weight and that the engineering team focused on finding more performance
by improving engine component efficiency.
As for team gear, both Sebastian Vettel
and Kimi Raikkonen went with brand new helmet designs, which should work really
well with the car's new color theme.
