Ford Focus (China Spec)
The new Ford Focus for China was
showcased at the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show last April, and was launched in the
market on the same month. Ford’s best selling nameplate, over 2 million of
which had been sold at that time, is available as a four-door sedan or a
five-door hatchback.
The body has a lower and wider stance
with a bolder front fascia dominated by the chrome-finished trapezoidal grille.
The slim headlamps at the front flow into the smooth side profile that is seen
with a sharp shoulder line and blackened B-pillar. The posterior gains slim
wraparound tail lamps and a subtle bootlid spoiler.
Ford says that the interior has been
updated according to customer feedback which called for a simpler and more
intuitive cabin. There are fewer buttons and switches with more storage options
and increased use of sound-deadening materials for better refinement. The new
Ford Focus comes with a wide range of systems that have been integrated for
increased convenience and safety. These are Enhanced Active Park Assist, Cross
Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Front Lighting, Active City
Stop, Ford MyKey and Blind Spot Information System.
Infotainment requirements are met by
Ford’s SYNC 2 connectivity system that is operated by a centrally-placed 8-inch
high-resolution touchscreen. This system can be hooked up to a smartphone
thereby enabling the user to modify climate controls, entertainment system and
navigation system via voice commands.
In China, the car is available with
three engines. These are the 1.0-liter three cylinder EcoBoost producing 123 hp
/ 170 Nm of torque, a 1.5-liter four cylinder EcoBoost engine capable of 181 hp
/ 240 Nm and finally a 1.6-liter Ti-VCT naturally-aspirated four cylinder unit
generating 120 hp and a peak torque output of 152 Nm. These engines can be
paired to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a PowerShift dual-clutch
gearbox.
