Honda Odyssey Hybrid
After its debut at the 2015 Tokyo Motor
Show, Honda's new hybrid MPV is now available for order in its local market.
The cheapest version of the Odyssey
Hybrid starts from 3,560,000 yen (US$ 30,300), while the most expensive one has
been priced at 4,056,400 yen (US$ 34,500).
Standard equipment includes automatic
air conditioning unit with Plasmacluster technology, a large-sized armrest for
the driver's seat and the Honda Sensing suite of advanced safety and driver
assist technology.
Honda also announced full pricing
details on the rest of the Odyssey lineup, which sees the "G" as the
most affordable model, priced at 2,892,840 yen (US$ 24,600). Non-hybrid units are
powered by a 2.4-liter DOHC i-VTEC engine, connected to a CVT. FWD comes
standard and AWD is available on more expensive versions. A total of seven body colors are
available for the Odyssey, while the interior is finished in either Ivory or
Black, with the latter being the only choice on the Hybrid.
The eight-seater people carrier is
powered by the Hybrid i-MMD (Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive) powertrain, which
consists of a 2.0-liter i-VTEC and a 232 percent smaller and lighter electric
motor taking juice from a lithium-ion battery pack mounted underneath the front
seats. Power is sent to the front-wheel drive
through a CVT transmission and the average fuel economy achieved in the JC08
test cycle is 3.8 lt/100 km (61.1 mpg US).
