BMW 740e 'iPerformance'
BMW has rolled out its first
iPerformance model at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, in the shape of the new 740e.
After unveiling the 740e PHEV last
month, BMW has now officially launched both the car as well as its new model designation,
the so called 'iPerformance' moniker, which will be given to all BMW plug-in
hybrid vehicles starting from July 2016.
By doing this, BMW will be providing
customers with a visible indicator signifying the transfer of technology from
BMW i to the BMW core brand.
Even though the moniker will first
appear on the new 7 Series PHEV (740e iPerformance), more models will follow as
BMW is eager to make this a seamless technical expertise transfer regarding
electric motors, battery cells and electronic control systems within their own
range.
Those looking for visible indicators
will need to watch out for the 'BMW i' logo on the front side panel, BMW
i-style blue elements in the kidney grille and wheel hubs, and an eDrive logo
on the C-pillar.
Furthermore, customers will also be able
to make use of BMW's i 360 Electric range of products and services, which
include the BMW i Wallbox.
