Kremer Racing 935 K3
Since its spectacular cars are eligible
historic competition, the famous group 5 of the 70 regained its popularity and
especially the Porsche 935 K3, probably the top of the genre, gone down in
history with a win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1979. Kremer Racing intends to
return the famous silhouette on the slopes 37 years after presenting a kit
based on 997 Cup.
The Porsche 935, all those interested in
motor racing in the 70s remember. This is a car that can not forget. Based on
the 930 turbo and enjoying the very permissive regulation of group 5, it had
been developed by Porsche in 1977 to face the BMW 320 and other Ford Capri,
also radically transformed, in the German DRM Championship and Porsche had also
committed in the brand world championship and IMSA. By making a customer car
and selling it to private teams, Porsche secured the law of numbers, and the
formidable 935 dominated the scene of the world endurance between 1977 and
1982, year of great regulatory change that ended the silhouettes . The 935 has
won everything: Le Mans, Daytona, Sebring and many other endurance
competitions.
As will be the case with 956/962,
Porsche had the genius let the rein to its customers by giving them the
opportunity to develop their cars, including the factory to compete. This is
the case of Kremer Racing who developed several changes of 935 K1 to K4. The K3
is probably the top with a different body of the car factory and the 3.2L twin
turbo which pushed up to 850 horsepower. She defeated the prototypes and the
935 factory in a historic victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1979. Kremer was
trade K3, and sold a number, making it recognizable body on all circuits.
Kremer is still scum and historic races
where conventional delivered like orange Jägermeister or Vaillant green are
more popular than ever. This has given ideas to the preparer and now he has a
kit inspired by K3 for modern Porsche race. The first copy is based on 997 cup
but it will also be possible to adapt the 996. The car will be eligible in the
VLN group H, and that based on the 996 in the championship for youngtimers NCR.
