2016 Honda City (facelift)

Honda Cars India is expected to introduce a facelift for its best seller, the Honda City, in the upcoming festive season. Drawing cues from the China-spec Honda Griez (City), here’s what IAB’s graphic artist, Shoeb R Kalania, thinks the new City could look like.

Although this is a speculative look at the styling, one can expect a bolder grille with more chrome embellishments on the grille, larger projector headlamps with LED DRLs and a sportier bumper, while the rear-end could feature revised taillamp clusters.

Inside, Honda could limit the changes to equipment upgrades and seat upholstery. As for engine lineup, the new City is likely to retain the 1.5-liter i-VTEC and i-DTEC engines. The gearing could be altered for better fuel efficiency though, taking the City closer to the Maruti Ciaz, which holds the title of the most fuel efficient car in its class.

The current Honda City is priced up to INR 11.09 lakhs for the petrol-manual version and INR 12.32 lakhs for the diesel trim. Expect little difference between the pricing of the facelifted and current models.
