2016 New Toyota Yaris TRD Sportivo

Toyota Thailand has revealed a new TRD Sportivo variant for the Yaris hatchback, which will makes its debut at the upcoming 2016 Bangkok Motor Show. The new variant introduces some additional features, as well as several visual enhancements.

At the front, the Yaris’ silver grille is now painted black, including its extensions that go all the way down to the bumper’s base. The bumper itself receives a new silver lip element that resembles a faux skid plate, with LED DRLs fitted as well.

The blacked-out exterior trim element continues down the sides of the car as well, with mudguards covering both sets of wheel arches before coming full circle at the rear. The attempt to provide the Yaris with a more ‘active’ persona also includes the addition of silver roof rails, ‘TRD Sportivo’ badging and alloy wheels.

Inside, the Yaris TRD gets black and orange leather seats instead of the standard fabric ones. The colour scheme is applied to the floor mats as well, which also feature ‘TRD Sportivo’ badging, and the door panels.

Elsewhere, the basic audio system has been replaced by a double-DIN unit that has a seven-inch touchscreen with a variety of inputs (DVD, CD, Micro HDMI, SD card and Bluetooth). The screen also doubles as a display for the car’s rearview camera, a new addition here too.

Keep in mind that nearly all the additions here are part of the TRD Sportivo special package, which is a cost option according to Toyota Thailand’s official site. The only thing that comes with the standard car is the black and orange interior (sans the double-DIN unit and reverse camera).

The mechanicals here remain unchanged. Under the hood, the Yaris TRD is powered by a 1.2 litre 3NR-FE four-cylinder Dual VVT-I petrol engine producing 86 PS at 6,000 rpm and 108 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The mill is paired to a Super CVT-i automatic.

As for pricing, the Toyota Yaris TRD Sportivo costs 585,000 baht, but an additional 64,000 baht is needed to obtain the special TRD Sportivo bits as mentioned above. A private concert with international pop superstar Katy Perry is not part of the deal here.
