Mahindra Marksman
Designed by Mahindra Defence Systems, a
subsidiary of the multi billion dollar Mahindra Group, Mahindra Marksman was
showcased at the ongoing 2016 DefExpo India’s premier exhibition on Land,
Naval and Internal Homeland Security Systems.
Mahindra Marksman is
India’s first armoured capsule-based vehicle. It has been designed specially
for the use of defence personnel, police and paramilitary forces. Being light
and compact in size, the Marksman is also used for conventional roles as well
as to counter terrorists.
Powered by a 2.5 liter CRDE diesel
engine, which generates max power of 105 hp and peak torque of 228 Nm via a 5
speed manual gearbox. Power is transmissted to all four wheels via all wheel
drive system. All four tyres are equipped with run-flat system, which will all
allow the car to travel at the speed of up to 50 km/h in spite of no air
pressure. Top speed is of 120 km/h.
Mahindra Marksman has an unladen weight
of 2,600 kg, and a capacity to carry payload of 600 kg. It can seat up to 6
adults (2 in the front, 4 in the rear). It also gets power steering and
Air-Conditioning.
