VW Upgrade Model (UK)
Waving goodbye to the Golf Estate SE,
the Match Edition has joined the Volkswagen family in the United Kingdom.
Priced from £ 22,045 (US$ 31,810), it adds
almost £ 2,000 (US$ 2,885) worth of equipment for just £ 100 (US$ 145) more than the
previous SE model, featuring 16-inch Dover alloy wheels, front fog lights,
parking sensors and Mirror Pack with puddle lights and electrically adjustable
side mirrors.
Inside, the Germans have upgraded the
infotainment system, which works together with a 6.5-inch screen and comes with
a 3-year subscription to live services, adding dynamic navigation with points
of interest, speed limit display, a choice of three routes (Fast, Short or Eco)
and dynamic live traffic updates. Heated seats, an allergy filter to the
dual-zone air-con, headlight washers and heated windscreen washer jets are also
part of the package.
Volkswagen has performed a series of
upgrades to the Golf R, in both hatch and estate versions, which are now
supplied with standard Discover Navigation system, heated windscreen washer
jets, headlight washers and heated front seats, bumping their price by £ 500
(US$ 720), as the cheapest Golf R now starts at £ 31,685 (US$ 45,720).
Those interested in the Passat can now
select the Active Info Display system, which is the brand's version of the Audi
Virtual Cockpit, regardless of the chosen model. This is joined by an
infotainment upgrade, while the GT and R-Line trims get standard panoramic
glass roof and the aforementioned Active Info Display. The Passat GT starts
from £ 26,025 (US$ 37,552) as a sedan and £27,575 ($39,790) as an Estate, while the
R-Line costs £ 28,145 (US$ 40,610) in the four-door and £ 29,695 (US$ 42,845) in the
five-door guise.
The VW Touran now packs an extra punch,
as the 1.6-liter TDI has received a 5 PS upgrade, to 115 PS.
The mill is available on the S, SE and SE Family trims and doesn’t affect CO2
emissions, as the manufacturer explains.
Joining the regular Polo family are a
variety of Beats special editions, in 3- or 5-door configurations, featuring a
300-watt sound system and styling upgrades and offered with a choice of four
engines.
