2017 Audi Q5
The next-gen 2017 Audi Q5 has been spied
testing nearly uncamouflaged, courtesy ototeknikveri. With an evolutionary
redesign, the Audi Q5 will enter its second generation this year.
The next-gen 2017 Audi Q5 has been
confirmed to debut later this year, and will likely go on sale in Europe by the
year-end. Global markets including those in North America, Asia-Pacific, the
Middle East and Oceania will likely get the all-new Q5 only in 2017. In the
U.S. market, it will go on sale as a 2018 model.
The second generation Audi Q5 will be
based on the MLB-Evo platform that is currently used for the second generation
Audi Q7, the fifth generation Audi A4 and the second generation Audi A5. It’s
expected to be around 100 kg lighter than the first generation Audi Q5. It will
likely be offered with the same TFSI petrol and TDI diesel engines with
displacement ranging from 1.8- to 3.0-litre. Transmission choices should
include 6-speed manual, 7-speed S tronic and 8-speed tiptronic.
Expected key features of the 2017 Audi
Q5 include Matrix LED headlamps, dynamic turn signals, Audi virtual cockpit
fully digital instrument cluster and the MMI (Multi Media Interface)
infotainment system with MMI touch control. The next-gen Audi Q5 will be
manufactured at the company’s San Jose Chiapa plant in Mexico. It will likely
be imported in CKD form in India, and be assembled starting in H2 2017.
