2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE
Despite the fact that the current
(facelifted) Mercedes-Benz GLE was revealed just last year, the Germans were
spotted testing the all-new fourth generation of the luxury SUV.
The camouflaged prototype you see here
is based on the company’s latest Modular High Architecture (MHA) and will share
a lot of components and tech features with the current E-Class.
Mercedes’ new SUV is expected to feature
a much more dynamic and sleek design, following the same direction with the
firm's more recent models. The shape of the car will be cleaner, with the rear
end opting for a pair of slim horizontal taillights in the same fashion as the
smaller GLC.
The new platform will bring significant
weight savings and more interior room than the current model, while the engine
range will benefit from the company’s new, more frugal units that debuted in
the E-Class and which are designed to meet future RDE requirements, like the
191hp 2.0-litre OM654 diesel.
Just like most Mercedes nowadays, the
new GLE will be offered with a wide range of petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid
powertrains, while AMG will take care of the more expensive versions with both
V6 and V8 turbocharged units.
The new Mercedes GLE is expected to make
its market debut around 2018.
