BASF Concept 1865
BASF, specialist in plastics has
introduced the Concept 1865 or e- velocipede, a modern interpretation of the
first bicycles! Created in partnership with the Design Studio DING3000 the
Concept 1865 celebrates the year of creation of the company, in the same time
as Karl Drais’ Dandy Horse, one of the first bicycles.
The basic idea is to rethink the
material while maintaining the format: a large 39 inches wheel in front and 24
rear, which now houses a 250 Watt electric motor! Its detachable seat houses the
battery - which can therefore be recharged at home.
The Concept 1865 is composed of no fewer
than 24 high-tech plastics developed by BASF, foams, epoxy resin and
polyurethane (such as puncture-proof tires for example), about 90% of the bike
is made from plastic, only the brakes, motor and axles are in metal.
The front and rear LED lights are integrated
into the frame and fork. The Concept 1865 e-Velocipede is a one-off and few
information is available about its specs apart the engine power - but it
remains an extremely desirable neo-retro object.
