Fiat X6H hatchback
The new hatchback under development in
Brazil, internally known as the ‘Fiat X6H’, will be brought to the market with
a new brand name, as the ‘Punto’ nameplate is unlikely to get a successor.
In the latest, the Fiat X6H has been spied
in Brazil by Autos Segredos reader Renato Uchikawa. The Brazilian publication
speculates the engineering mule being tested by either the car’s parts’
suppliers Bosch or Magneti Marelli, not by Fiat. Furthermore, its report states
that the Fiat X6H will hit the markets only in 2017, not later this year. The
Fiat X6H will be based on a stretched and an updated version of the Fiat 326
platform.
The Fiat X6H will have a sedan version
also, which is internally known as the ‘Fiat X6S’. This model has been
speculated to be the next-gen Fiat Linea. Fiat isn’t done with just a sedan
derivative, it will introduce a pickup truck also based on the new B-segment
hatchback’s platform, currently known under the codename ‘Fiat X6P’.
According to the new report, the Fiat
X6H will be offered with the new 1.3-litre GSE engine producing maximum power
and maximum torque of over 100 hp and around 137.29 Nm respectively,
as well as the new 1.8-litre E.torQ EVO engine from the Fiat Toro. The GSE
engine will be offered with 5-speed manual and 5-speed automatic transmissions
and the E.torQ EVO engine will be available with 5-speed manual and 6-speed
automatic transmissions. At a later date, a performance variant will be
introduced with the 1.3 16v GSE Turbo engine expected to produce over 150 hp.
