Mahindra Gio quadricyce
The first ever spy shot of the Mahindra
Gio quadricycle has emerged online, indicating that the automaker is in final
stages of developing the product. As the legal battles involving the Bajaj Qute
(the country’s first quadricycle) are far from over, Mahindra may have a lot of
time at its disposal to work on its final product.
The spy shot reveals that the
quadricycle has an undeniable connection with the Gio small commercial vehicle.
The front fascia gets new headlamps, grill and bumper but the basic character
remains intact.
The Gio quadricycle will employ a simple hinged door on the driver side as
visible in the spy shots and a sliding door on the left hand side which would
give better access to both front and rear seats.
Based on the same platform as the Gio
LCV, the quadricycle is expected to use the same 441 cc single-cylinder engine
which produces 6.8 KW of power and 21 Nm of torque. Transmission is a 4-speed
unit.
Expected to weight around 500 kg, the
Mahindra Gio quadricycle would be good for a fuel efficiency of around 35-40
km/l. The Qute’s fate in India will also determine the Gio’s.
