New Chevrolet Onix (facelift)
The Chevrolet Onix was unveiled at the
2012 Sao Paulo Auto Show and went on sale in Brazil in November 2012. Three
years later, Chevrolet is working on the new Chevrolet Onix (facelift), as seen
in these spyshots, originally published by Autoblog Argentina.
The engineering mule in the spyshots is
not the standard Chevrolet Onix, it’s a jacked-up derivative of the car. With
the facelift, Chevrolet is going to introduce an adventure variant of the Onix
with increased ground clearance and possibly a little rugged character with
all-around body cladding. The Argentinian publication says that this variant
will be called ‘Chevrolet Onix Activ’.
The new Chevrolet Onix (facelift) as
well as its sedan version – the new Chevrolet Prisma (facelift), are expected
to get an updated front fascia inspired by that of second generation Cruze.
There’s no speak on any mechanical changes.
The current Chevrolet Onix is offered
with two engine options. The base engine is a 1.0-litre four-cylinder flex-fuel
unit that produces 78.9 hp running on ethanol or 76.9 hp)running on petrol and 96 Nm of torque running on ethanol or 93 Nm
of torque running on petrol. This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
The second engine is a 1.4-litre
four-cylinder flex-fuel unit that produces 104.5 hp)running on
ethanol or 96.7 hp running on petrol and 136 Nm of torque
running on ethanol or 127 Nm of torque running on petrol. This engine is mated
to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard, but can be opted with a 6-speed
automatic transmission.
