Rinspeed XchangE
Rinspeed wants to invent business class
for car journeys as autonomous cars will not have drivers anymore but
passengers! Its idea: an autonomous electric sedan premium and connected
redefining the car’s interior to better use the time saved. Specific seats are
reminiscent of the best business class of aviation, reclining and swiveling
with no fewer than 20 positions available.
A steering wheel with driver recognition
and especially a steering column on rails to move the steering wheel in the
center of the dashboard in the autonomous mode using the "steer by
wire" technology, electric steering.
The entertainment system on board was
designed by Harman (longtime partner of Rinspeed) with HTML5 technology (but
apparently protected from hackers). 4 screens are available in the car,
including a 32-inch that turns your car into a cinema.
To complete its luxury and comfort
cocoon for privileged passengers Rinspeed chose a plexigals roof from Evonik
which has no less than 358 individually controlled LED - "all the colors
of the rainbow." And to put the final touch, the watchmaker Carl F.
Bucherer placed its Patravi TravelTec in a transparent globe at the heart of
the car.
This study of autonomous car will be
world premiered at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.
