Venturi VBB-3
Since the last record set in 2010,
Venturi tries each year to smash its record, but is victim of bad weather and
so, it is only this year that Venturi was finally able to tackle the Bonneville
Salt Flats during the Speedweek - but despite the impressive figure, Venturi
does not reach its previous record – and only sets one in its category (vehicle
over 3.5 tons).
While in 2010 Venturi raced with the
VBB-2.5 (Venturi Buckeye Bullet) that featured 700 hp, the brand has been
working since - still with the Ohio State University – on the VBB-3, a 3000 hp
monster.
Again due to very unfavorable conditions
and a very damaged/dangerous track the brand has not been able to exploit the
full potential of the machine, as a reminder the VBB-2.5 had reached the
absolute world record with 495 km/h.
In Bonneville the ideal condition is to
have a hard and dry soil but because of rainfall in series, the driver Roger
Schroer had to do its best "In eleven years here I have never driven on
such a difficult track. The car was sliding on the surface from one side to the
other due to soft spots and bumps."
Anyway we imagine that it will not
discourage Gildo Pastor and meanwhile, Venturi will be able to test their
improvements and knowledge in the new season of Formula E 2015-2016 where teams
can now provide their own powertrain.
