2017 Toyota Corolla
The Japanese
automaker is introducing a mildly revised version of the popular econobox,
featuring some updates to the exterior styling, interior equipment, and onboard
safety features.
The 2017 Toyota Corolla is visually differentiated
from the 2016 model with a new front grille, LED headlamps, and new wheels.
Bi-LEDs and 16-inch wheels come standard on lower-spec models, while higher
trims get complex-LED headlights and 17-inch alloys.
Inside, the updated Corolla benefits from new fabric
upholstery, redesigned HVAC controls and circular air vents. It also comes
standard with Bluetooth connectivity and an Entune audio system before
customers delve into optional upgrades like premium audio, navigation and a
seven-inch touchscreen. The manufacturer has also fitted the 2017 Corolla with
its latest Toyota Safety Sense-P system that includes pre-collision, pedestrian
detection, lane departure assist, radar-based dynamic cruise control, and
automatic high beams.
Toyota projects that the new Corolla will return up
to 40 miles per gallon on the highway in the LE Eco spec, fitted with a
1.8-liter inline-four now rated at 140 horsepower and mated to
a reprogrammed continuously variable transmission.
After half a decade on the market, the Toyota
Corolla is the most successful (and among the longest-running) nameplates in
the industry, having sold over 43 million units to date.
