Peugeot eF01
Peugeot will be introducing an electrically-assisted folding bicycle, dubbed the eF01, at
the 2016 Paris Motor Show.
The introduction of the eF01 comes after
the launch of the brand's range of electrically-assisted bikes in 2009. The
brainchild of the Peugeot Design Lab, the eF01 aims to make inner-city
commuting that little bit easier and can be folded and unfolded in as little as
10 seconds.
Power for the eF01 comes courtesy of a
small lithium-ion battery with a 30 km range that is capable of
sending the bike to a 20 km/h top speed. The battery can be recharged
in the boot of any vehicle with a 12-volt power outlet or via a normal
household plug. It takes approximately 2 hours to give the bike a full charge.
According to lead designer from Peugeot
Design Lab, Neil Simpson, “The eF01 benefits from optimized ergonomics. When
folded, the bikes two wheels are perfectly aligned allowing the user to
effortlessly walk with the bike using the handle built into the frame. The eF01
possesses a patented memory system for the saddle which means the perfect
saddle height can be quickly achieved every time.”
Following the model's unveiling in
Paris, sales will commence in the first half of 2017 at Peugeot and CycleEurope
stores.
