Mini is bringing John
Cooper Works Clubman to SEMA for its US debut. This is the first Mini model to combine
the John Cooper Works signature with the brand’s ALL4 all-wheel drive system.
Power comes from a turbocharged 2.0-litre TwinPower engine which makes for the
occasion 228 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque.
0 to 60 mph comes in 6 seconds flat, whether you stay with the
standard six-speed manual or go for the optional eight-speed automatic
transmission. Mini has also added a launch control function to help you get
away from traffic lights with consistency, while top speed is 147 mph.
The chassis has been enhanced with bigger Brembo brakes, including
four-piston fixed calipers at the front. The suspension is lowered by 0.4
inches, with a standard sports system fitted as standard and the adaptive
Dynamic Damper Control offered in the options list.
The SEMA show car will feature a wide array of accessories such as
Black LED Driving Lights, Carbon Fiber Exhaust Tips, JCW Pro Design Side
Scuttles and 19-inch alloys. The new John Cooper Works Clubman also stands out
from its exclusive aerodynamic body kit with bigger air intakes, JCW sport
seats with integrated headrest and the dual exhaust pipes.
Mini is planning to offer a new John Cooper
Works Pro silencer complete with a flap system that operates via Bluetooth 4.0.
The new exhaust system will offer two operating modes, Sport and Track, with
the latter being reserved only for use off the public roads. The new optional
accessory will become available in April 2017.
The new Mini John Cooper Works Clubman is set to go on sale this
December across the US, with entry-level models starting from US$ 35,950. Standard
kit will include LED Headlights, JCW Sport Seats, Rear Park Distance Control,
Rearview camera and comfort access.
