All-New Yamaha FZ25 (spy shot)

Rumour mill pointed towards Yamaha not having any plans to introduce the MT-03, based on the YZF R3 in the domestic market. But these spy shots do give an indication of the potentially forthcoming 250cc version of the FZ.

The all-new 250cc FZ25 motorcycle is set to be launched for the Indian market on January 15. The Yamaha FZ25 is more likely to be priced aggressively around Rs. 1.6 lakh and could fancy the market position between KTM Duke 200 and Bajaj Dominar 400 in the naked motorcycle segment. With the ABS version of Dominar 400 costing just Rs. 1.50 lakh (ex-showroom), don’t be surprised if FZ25 is pitted right up against it.

The engine could be sourced from R25 fully-faired bike. The 249 cc liquid-cooled, four-stroke, DOHC, 4V, engine should be tuned to produce a maximum power output of around 30 bhp at 12,000 rpm and 20-21 Nm of peak torque at 10,000 rpm. The high-revving motor will be coupled to a six-speed manual transmission dialled for faster gear shifting. Top speed could be in the region of 145 km/h.
