Lucid Motors Atvus
Lucid Motors has taken the wraps off of its long-shrouded, electric
luxury sedan, following an official unveiling event.
The model name for the electric sedan is the “Air;” a 100 kilowatt-hour
(kWh) battery pack comes standard; combined drivetrain performance is 1,000
horsepower; the 0–60 mph time is 2.5 seconds; and the model comes standard with
a full self-driving tech hardware suite that includes LiDAR. Pricing is around US$ 100,000 for lower-optioned vehicles. The Lucid Motors website went live ~7
hours ago.
Very interestingly, the company is planning on offering a 130 kWh
battery pack option, which will reportedly boost real-world range to over 400
miles per single full charge. That would be a pretty good selling point, I’d
say, and a way to differentiate itself a bit from Tesla’s highest offerings —
presuming Tesla doesn’t go there as well.
Pricing will start around US$ 100,000 initially. The company is planning to offer a US$ 65,000 model at some
point, though, it claims.
Production of the Lucid Motors Air is expected to begin in 2018, at
the firm’s new/planned facilities in Arizona.
