Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 (spy shot)
This is first sighting of the GLC 63 Coupe. This prototype was snapped by Paultan spy photographers while it underwent winter testing in Sweden, wearing a modest
amount of camouflage.
It doesn’t do much to hide the obvious AMG
visual cues, including the more aggressive-looking front and rear bumpers, with
the former having larger air intakes while the latter accommodates the
quad-exhaust setup, a trademark of AMG models. Other giveaways include the
larger-looking brakes compared with the current GLC 43.
The camo applied to the test mule’s front
grille is reminiscent of the one we saw on the AMG GT R prototype before its
debut. Could this be a sign that AMG models in the future will incorporate the
vertical slat design in the future?
The GLC 63 Coupe will likely be
powered by the familiar M177 4.0 litre biturbo V8 engine, which is capable of
producing 510 hp and 700 Nm of torque in the C 63 S Sedan. An AMG Speedshift
MCT seven-speed sports automatic transmission and 4MATIC all-wheel drive will
likely be paired with the mill.
Compared to the GLC 43, which packs a 3.0 litre
twin-turbo V6 with 367 hp and 520 Nm of torque, the GLC 63 will most definitely
make the zero to 100 km/h sprint in less than the GLC 43’s time of 4.9 seconds.
