New Kia Sportage GT-Line S and KX-5
Kia has announced a round of updates to its new
Sportage SUV. Two new trim levels have been added, both of them new
high-specification models. Introduced to sit above the existing GT-Line cars,
the new GT-Line S model gets the same stand-out sporty styling tweaks but with
extra equipment, making it a more premium option.
The GT-Line S gets a heated steering wheel, headlamp washers, bi-xenon
headlamps and a smart park assist system. It rides in 19-inch alloy wheels, and
comes kitted with ‘Ice Cube’ style LED front foglights and a power assisted
tailgate.
The CRDi 2.0-litre diesel engine finds its way under
the bonnet, mated to a six-speed automatic. The turbocharged
1.6-litre petrol engine is available, complete with the seven-speed DCT
automatic gearbox. Prices start from £ 29,495.
Alongside the GT-Line S car, a new range topper will
go on sale. KX-5 trim will replace the First Edition Sportage, building on KX-4
trim with a two-tone leather upholstery, an electronic parking brake, satellite
navigation, safety features such as autonomous emergency braking and a wireless
phone charging box. It gets the 2.0-litre CRDi with a six-speed automatic, and
is priced from £ 31,995.
Further changes to the range include the
introduction of the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission on the 1.7-litre CDRi
engine found on Sportage 2 and 3 level cars, new premium paint colours, and an
upgraded multimedia setup on Sportage 2 and above. It introduces 3D mapping for
the sat nav system, plus Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
