Mahindra is showcasing the Thar Daybreak
edition at the Autocar Performance Show 2017. Introduced at Auto Expo 2016, the
Daybreak edition Thar can be had by availing a customisation kit priced at INR
9.6 lakh.
Buyers of the Daybreak edition kit get their
Mahindra Thar customised completely by the company’s in-house Mahindra
Customisation division. The build takes around two months to complete. The
modification kit brings a matte grey exterior, LED rings inside the headlamps,
a hood scoop and LED tail lamps to level-up the off-roader’s styling.
Other highlights of the Mahindra Thar Daybreak
edition include a winch attached to a set of Stinger Bumpers for additional
protection to the radiator and 37-inch Maxxis Trepador tyres which increase the
vehicle’s ground clearance and enhance the rock crawling capability and
chrome-finish dual exhausts. The example shown at Auto Expo 2016 had no roof,
but Daybreak edition customers can specify a fixed solid roof for INR 1.5 lakh
extra.
The Mahindra Thar Daybreak edition doesn’t get any
engine upgrades despite the exorbitant sticker price. The 2.5-litre CRDe engine
produces 105 bhp at 3,800 rpm and 247 Nm of torque between 1,800-2,000
rpm and sends drive via a 5-speed manual transmission.
