The initial lot of the 2017 Toyota Vitz/Yaris has been spied on a transport carrier en route to
dealerships in Japan, ahead of its launch in January 12.
Not much details have been revealed online, but the
spyshots above offer a first look at the facelifted Toyota Vitz. While much of
the design is retained, the new Vitz gets all new horizontal taillamps and a
redesigned rear bumper with sculpted elements, which lend a continuous look to
its posterior.
The front-end is not completely revealed, but from
what we can tell, it features a slightly revised bumper design, updated
headlamps and a new grille. All units spied have steel rims, but expect the
full-size wheel cap design and alloy wheel design to be new.
The facelifted Vitz is likely to retain the current
model’s engine lineup, which include 69 PS 1.0L 3-cyl 1KR-FE, 99 PS 1.3L 4-cyl
1NR-FKE and 109 PS 1.5L 4-cyl 1NZ-FE petrol engines. All variants will be
paired with a CVT-i option, while the 1.3L variant exclusively offers the
option of 4WD.
It remains to be seen when Toyota plans to bring the
facelift to the European market.
