Triumph Motorcycles has launched the all-new Triumph
Street Triple range in the UK. the naked roadster is now available in three
power options. It includes the Triumph Street Triple S, Triumph Street Triple R
and Triumph Street Triple RS. An A2 compliant Street Triple S is also
available.
The 2017 Triumph Street Triple gets a new 765 cc
in-line three cylinder mill as standard. The A2 version uses a resleeved
version of the old 675 cc mill with a displacement of 660 cc.
Coupled to a 6 speed gearbox the Triumph Street
Triple S’ liquid-cooled mill is capable of producing 113 PS of maximum power at
11,250 rpm and 73 Nm of peak torque at 9,100 rpm. In comparison, the outgoing
model had an output of 106 PS of power and 98 Nm of torque. The bike is
suspended on 41 mm upside-down forks up front sourced from Showa and a Showa
piggyback reservoir mono shock in the rear with adjustable preload.
Brakes in the front include twin 310 mm floating
discs with Nissin 2 piston calipers and a single 220 mm disc in the rear with a
mono piston Brembo caliper. Features include ABS, ride by wire, switchable
traction, two riding modes (rain and road) and an analogue/LCD instrumentation
borrowed from the Triumph Speed Triple. The A2 version of this model gets a
different bore and stroke, and the displacement is brought down to 660 cc. The
Triumph Street Triple S will be available from April 2017 and will be priced at
GBP 8,125 (OTR).
The Triumph Street Triple R also use the 765 cc
triple. Coupled to a 6 speed gearbox and slip and assist clutch, the engine is
capable of producing 118 PS of maximum power at 12,000 rpm and 77 Nm of peak
torque at 9,400 rpm. The bike is suspended over Showa 41 mm upside-down front
forks with adjustable compression damping, rebound damping and adjustable
preload and a Showa piggyback reservoir mono shock with adjustable spring
preload (lock-rings), compression damping and rebound damping.
Brakes get the 310 mm twin disc set up front and
Brembo M4 32 four piston monobloc calipers and a single 220 mm with a mono
Brembo caliper. ABS and traction control is switchable. Other features include
a new 5 inch TFT display, DRL headlights, self-cancelling indicators, body
coloured fly screen, integrated air intake borrowed from the Triumph Speed
Triple and pinstripe wheels. Riding modes in the Triumph Street Triple R have
been increased to 4 (sport, road, rain and rider).
Price for the Triumph Street Triple R will be
revealed at a later date and the bike will be available in the UK in May.
A new low-ride version of the Triumph Street Triple
R is also available which has a seat height of 780 mm (down from the standard
825 mm). Instead of reducing the cushioning, Triumph has reworked the
suspension to reduce the height.
